Skill development of the new generation is a national need and is the foundation of Aatmnirbhar Bharat: PM
India has a young and dynamic population, but a large section of the workforce still lacks formal skills and entrepreneurial guidance. NISET has been established to provide practical, affordable and livelihood-focused training, supporting the national vision of a Skilled, Self-Reliant and Atmanirbhar India.
The National Institute of Skill & Entrepreneurship Development (NISED) functions under the National Skill Development Trust with the mandate to:
Provide skill and entrepreneurship training to youth, women, farmers and micro-entrepreneurs
Support self-employment, micro enterprise and rural livelihood development
Complement and support Government of India initiatives in the areas of skill development, digital empowerment and entrepreneurship promotion.

Projects we are focusing on
NISED is currently prioritizing projects that strengthen skill development, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihood creation across diverse communities.
Our focus areas include promoting rural enterprise models, enhancing digital and financial literacy, supporting women-led and youth-led micro businesses, and advancing community-based initiatives such as beekeeping, agri-allied activities, and skill-based service trades.
These projects are designed to build practical capabilities, improve income opportunities, and create a foundation for long-term socio-economic development, especially in underserved and rural regions.
